Posaconazole is a triazole compound derived from itraconazole with broad-spectrum antifungal activity. It works by inhibiting 14-alpha demethylase, an enzyme important to the integrity of fungal cell walls. Posaconazole is significantly more potent than other 14-alpha demethylase inhibitors.
